His research interest focuses simultaneously on the market of higher education and social responsibility.

Since social sciences are not governed by the laws of mathematics the sum of these two fields of interest spawns a variety of research topics.


Marcin Geryk’s three main areas of interest are:

  • the role of the university in modern society;
  • social responsibility of the university;
  • management strategies of the university.


He has written, among others, about:

  • strategic management of the university;
  • the role of stakeholders in education;
  • communication in university management;
  • university environment;
  • the intellectual capital of the university,
  • ISO

Between 2007-2010 he was head of the research project “Społeczna odpowiedzialność uczelni w percepcji interesariuszy”, financed by Gdansk Management College (currently Gdansk College of Health), whose aim was to examine the position and role of social responsibility in university management.

Between 1999-2004, he studied the phenomena and processes occurring in the private sector of higher education. The finances of universities, including income, expenses, profit and loss and the unit cost of education were analyzed In addition, a survey was carried out on a sample of 100 representatives of authorities of private universities (out of the then existing 304 private universities).
